Candlelight Remembrance & Solidarity Gathering
On Sunday, August 30, 2026, the Nepalese Society of Nova Scotia (NSNS) organized a candlelight remembrance and solidarity gathering at Citadel Hill, Town Clock in Halifax following the devastating Bhote Koshi River flash floods in Nepal. Community members came together with heavy hearts to remember those who lost their lives, stand in solidarity with affected families, and offer hope and support to those still awaiting news of loved ones. Participants brought LED candles and flowers as symbols of remembrance, compassion, and unity. NSNS extends its deepest condolences to all affected families and communities in Nepal. From Nova Scotia to Nepal, we stand together.
NSNS also organized a community fundraising campaign to support disaster relief efforts in Nepal. With the generous support of community members, friends, and supporters, $7,745.44 CAD was successfully raised and transferred to the Government of Nepal’s Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund. NSNS extends its sincere gratitude to everyone who donated, shared the campaign, and helped make this collective effort possible. Special appreciation goes to The Art of Living Foundation , which contributed $640 CAD through its fundraising event in support of the cause.
